CULTIVATING LOVE & COMPASSION

I felt so inspired to write about it after watching this talk by the amazing woman Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo, who is a buddhist monk. The name of the lecture is 'What can I do to change the world?' and she talks about love, compassion & empathy to all sensitve beings.

We live our lives ruled by the ego and the mind, which creates a sense of separation - I and you, I and them. We forgot our true essencial nature of oneness, that is why is so important to cultivate emphaty and compassion, to open our hearts to the pain of others . To recognize that just as I would rather be happy and avoid pain & suffering, so does all other beings. Just like we don't like to be treated unkindly , so does all beings. Once we start understanding that from a space inside us, and we cultive self love and self awareness, we will start acting more conciously. Why would I want to harm anyone, whether it may be with  words or actions? We wll ask ourselves how norrow or how open is our minds to accept and embrace all beings? With no inward boundaries, no more walls saying ' i love this group and not that one', not only our family,  friends and our pets but all beings, every human on this planet, all animals and insects.

There is no such a thing as changing the world, we can only change ourselves, and try to spread happiness , love and kindness to those around us. That is why I said 'cultivating love & compassion' because we need to cultivate and nurture them inside ourselves in order to be able to share it with others. So cultivate self love, self care, meditate ( I recently discovered metta meditation and sounds awesome!). And spread that around, a little bit more empathy in the world is needed - if someone is in pain, feel their pain and show them some love, if someone is incredible happy, be happy for them and celebrate together.

And keep in mind that we can only love other as much as we love ourselves.
